Dreams

Dreams can come true.

I have to believe this. You have to believe it too. Hope is what holds me together. Like the seams on our clothing, hope is what weaves my body and soul together. I know deep in my heart that it’s possible. I know that it’s there. I’ve felt it before; those fleeting moments are what tell me so. Here one moment and gone the next like a scent carried by the wind.

I know what I want. It took time to get to where I am, but it wasn’t for nothing. I learned to crawl. I learned to walk. I learned to babble. I learned to talk. Every day we do something quite extraordinary and take it for granted.

Sometimes I’ll be lost in the night with nothing but a cold breeze to keep me company. Sometimes I’ll bask in the warm light of the sun. My dream remains the same. It’s molded, just like the shape of my heart.

I want you. I need you. In my arms. In my heart. In my soul. You exist within me, and I exist within you. If I shout, you’ll hear me. If I reach out, I’ll touch you. If I live, you’ll love me. I have to believe that.

What’s more inspiring: the shape of the skyline or the outline of your silhouette? Someday you and I will stand on the top of the world together, just like how right now we’re stuck at the bottom while apart.

I’ll be as strong as I need to be to see things through. I’ll be like a captain at sea doing their best to weather a raging storm. Some more time will pass yet before we’ll stand hand in hand, but that’s just what I need. Time.

I’ll do better. I’ll be better. I’ll become who I’m meant to be. No more masquerading as the masochistic imposter. No longer will I perform as another’s court jester.

I’ll be me, and you’ll be you. When the time is right, we’ll be us.

Wrong will become right just as day becomes night. No matter how far I have to go, I’ll come back to you, much like no matter how trying they may be, dreams will come true.
